Pulling back the curtain you find a dismal medieval small prison cell. Old stone walls hold up rusty iron bars. The only light is from flickering torch light. An oddly shaped form stands motionless in the center. Walking up to the cell you see something that at one time may have been human. The head has some remaining features, but the rest of the body is tree like. Its roots are embedded in the dirt floor. A feeling of sadness and tragedy washes over you. The tree creature slowly raises its head to look at you. You whisper to it, "what are you?". It answers back.

"What am I? Once like you, a dreamer caught in a Nightmare impossible to wake from. Being here for so long I've even forgotten my name but you can call me Sorrow, it's a fitting name. My fear and the terrible fatigue of always running to find the exit overwhelmed me. My nightmare changed me. Arms and legs turned into roots and began to anchor me to the ground. I could no longer run. Rooted in fear I was trapped and easy prey for the Night Hag. She didn't take me as she does other dreamers. She found me unusual. She gave me to the shadow girl and was put in this Freakshow."

"The girl comes here often as she is drawn to the Babadook. He reads to her and fills her head with dark thoughts. She delights to torture me. She breaks what remaining limbs grow from me. I cannot allow myself to even cry. The tears grow leaves or blossoms. They enrage her and she rips and breaks them off of me. I may not resemble a human but I still feel pain. My limbs are part of me. It is agony to have them torn off. The sap that flows from the wound is my blood. Before you leave please be merciful and light me on fire with the torch. End my torment."

The creatures request has horrified you. There must be some other way. Not wanting to run into the evil shadow girl you force yourself to turn and leave. One last look back and you see a single tear drop fall from the creatures face. A blossom suddenly appears on a spindly limb.

If you feel you must rescue "Sorrow" you can. But it is hidden away in this story in the form of a Quest. I can't tell you where it can be found, it's a SECRET quest hidden somewhere in the Nightmare. What I will tell you is that you may have already missed finding the Secret Quest. I can send you back in Dark Time to find it but the consequence is you will have to repeat much of this Nightmare. Remember this IS a Nightmare. The Secret Quest can be found at this point in Dark Time. Search these two places. Click here to find Quest.
Complete the Quest and Sorrow can be saved.
The only other way to save Sorrow is by pure Luck.
