What are Orbs?

Orbs are balls of light that many people will see or have seen at some point in their lives. Orbs are also known as "ghost orbs" or "spirit orbs". What they are is argued about quite frequently, some say they are balls of energy, others say they are visiting spirits, and some say they are omens or warnings.

Orbs have been reported above fields with crop circles, at funerals, births, death scenes, religious services and around every facet of every day life. Interestingly enough, orbs have been followed and even played with by animals, such as cats and dogs. Cats seem to be particularly adept at seeing orbs, and some people claim that animal friends who visit from the other side are occasionally seen as orbs.

Many people think that spirit orbs are visible representations of angels. Photos taken during worship services frequently show golden orbs on or near the clergy, participants or depictions of deities and holy people. Believers often take these appearances as proof that the light visible in each photograph is indeed an angel.

Yet another theory proposes that orbs depict our spirit guides. Many ancient traditions teach that spirit guides are beings that have evolved beyond the need to incarnate. Our higher self chooses our guide to help us through life. Spirit guides provide comfort, advice and direction to individuals, all in keeping with an individual's higher purpose.

Some orbs are definitely energy, and energy is spirit. However, no one knows what this energy is for certain. Plasma balls of light, or ghost lights (orbs), have been proven to be electrically charged. Some of them are a naturally occuring phenomenon created through static discharge. True (plasma) orbs will normally have a more solid center without any spokes radiating from the center and emit their own light. Whether or not plasma-type orbs are only unintelligent, electrical discharges remains to be discovered and better understood. It's possible that some plasma orbs are intelligent spirit energy that manifests similarly.


How Can I See A Spirit Orb?

Spirit orbs are circular or spherical shapes that are invisible to the naked eye but can unpredictably appear in flash photography.

Good indications of real orbs are those that have been photographed without the camera’s flash or those that are seen with the naked eye and self-illuminated.


Taking Pictures To Reveal Orbs

You do not have to be an expert to try and capture an image of a spirit orb in a photograph. Although different cameras may capture the image of a spirit orb, orbs appear most frequently in digital camera pictures. You can use any type of digital camera to try to capture a spirit orb, but make sure that you have more than one camera to experiment with. To minimize the appearance of dust or moisture in your photograph, refrain from taking photographs in the rain or in misty or humid conditions.

Some spirits wish to be observed, others do not, and others exist where they are because they have no other choice. It is possible for spirits to be photographed and their voices recorded now through means of electronic and film media. To our cameras they usually appear as orbs or balls of light. Cameras can not see into the orb or ball of light to glean some understanding of its nature or identity.


Why Don't We See Demons In Photos?

Sometimes they are captured on film or video but usually not in recognizable forms. Demons prefer for us not to be aware of their existence while spirits of the dead commonly known as ghosts frequently do want the living to know they exist.


Non-Paranormal Causes For Orbs

Floating dust particles may cause white spots appearing at different positions on pictures taken by a digital camera using the flash. Dust in front of a subject reflects the flash light and the image of the dust is captured out of focus.

Dust, snow, rain, pollen, condensation, or any small airborne particles may cause the same problem. The particle will appear light and big because it is out of focus; it may assume a shape similar to the aperture of the camera, usually round.

While orbs did appear on traditional film, the plethora of orbs captured by digital cameras leaves believers defending this phenomenon. Many skeptics claim that the rise in orb phenomena so neatly coincides with the advent of digital photography that it's impossible to take orbs seriously, believing they may be the result of the equipment's own machinery. Others aren't so sure.

As photography improves and paranormal researchers use new techniques and equipment, investigators may yet definitively answer the question, "What are orbs?" Until then, it's amusing to entertain one or more of the many theories that abound around orb activity. Who's to say which theory is right or wrong?


EVP's - Can You Record A Spirit Speaking?

What is an EVP? It is Electronic Voice Phenomena. When a person is able to use a recording device to record the spirits of the dead, or other spirits that might happen to wish to share a message with the living. Ordinarily older consumer recording devices like tape recorders were poor choices to capture an EVP because the internal tape motor disrupts the flow of electromagnet energy being sent by the spirit or entity. Older consumer microphones required a higher level of energy in order to move the coils. New digital recording devices are nearly perfect for capturing EVP's. They use tiny low power microphones and have no motors to disrupt the flow of energy.
