The creature continues toward you and just as you are about to shoot it says "Wait". It's eyes still seem human and look at you in fear. The corpse-like thing slowly begins to speak saying he means no harm to you. He was one of the lab assistants here. They had been making remarkable progress in finding a way to slow down the infection of those with the zombie plague. Although he looks like a walking corpse he's not a danger to humans as long as he continues to medicate himself. The substance they created removes the desire for human brains and flesh and supplies him with a small amount of protein to stay alive and additional chemicals to slow the process of decomposition. He apologizes for startling you but didn't know if zombies, cannibals or marauders had breached the security of the safehouse and lab. He tells you more information can be found on a computer upstairs. You need time to go over this new information and decide whether or not to continue the search for the scientist. Before you closed the door to the lab the creature did utter a few final words to you. "When you're done I have a book, The Book of Mardis".
