With the destruction of Mardis Salem all telepathic links to the undead have been severed for good. Gone are the zombie shrieks. With no connection to Mardis all zombies are finally and completely dead. All have fallen where they stood. The zombie plague has ended. To make sure the stone statues never reanimate you return to the chamber with tools and turn them into rubble. Leaving the chamber for the last time you hope the spirits of the sacrificed children will now rest in peace. Walking up the burial chamber stairs and exiting the mausoleum you are greeted by a gentle breeze and starry sky. The scientist has gathered the cremated remains of Mardis Salem and will spread the ashes in numerous locations to insure she'll never come back. The scientist radios the helicopter to return to pick you up. Arriving back in the city you help to transport survivors to more suitable locations and you're reunited with the dog. Your days of zombie fighting are done. The long process now begins to find more survivors, treat the infected, and rebuild the world. Years go by and the scientist dies. He was never the same after the ordeal and refused to speak of it again. His researcher after many medical treatments had outwardly recovered and regenerated from the zombie plague. Other survivors who had been infected but found and treated early also appear to have successfully recovered. But unknown to others they all share a telepathic link and have been communicating. There remains traces of Mardis' evil influence on all of them. The research assistant is now in charge of the scientists lab and has access to all the secret files, documents, and objects. In his possession is the Book of Mardis and the location of all of Mardis' ashes. An evil sparkle lights up the researchers eyes as he formulates a plan.
