Not wanting to risk landing in an unsafe location you decide to land on the rooftop of the mall. Zombies can only survive for a year at the most so if you can prevent zombies from getting in, this place will be a perfect safe zone for human survivors and a valuable resource. You land and after several days have made numerous dangerous trips outside to secure the small number of doors that lead inside the mall. Zombies can no longer gain access inside the mall but great numbers of them are still drawn to it and they won't leave. As the number of zombies outside increase, the odds of marauders or other unwanted intruders decrease. You've done enough here and decide to get back to the military base. Hopefully from there you can find a way to broadcast news to other survivors. Taking a chance on having enough fuel, you leave the relative safety of the mall. You'll return with weapons and perhaps other survivors sometime in the future to kill the zombies outside the mall and any that may remain inside.
