The dog stands very little chance of survival on it's own. You dig into your supplies and offer the dog some food. She hungrily devours it. With a bit more food you coax her out of the truck and with a few more scraps of food she gets into your car. There is nothing more you can do here and although the driver of the truck deserves better you can't stay any longer to bury him. You need to keep moving and concentrate on finding a safe place away from here to fix the flat tire. As you drive away you look at the rear view mirror and see headlights several miles behind you. Marauders or cannibals are on their way. With the flat tire there's a 100% certainty they'll catch up with you. You need to find a safe place to make repairs. A gravel road crosses the highway and takes you to a forested area. You find a place where you can hide long enough to fix the tire and think about a new strategy to get to the town.
