You have decided to try the back of the house. You find a cellar door. It's bolted from the inside but is so rotted that one good pull and the bolt falls out. Once in you pull the door shut behind you. Your scent ended at the cellar door. As long as you remain quiet there's a good chance the zombies will get confused and forget about you. The brains of zombies are so badly decomposed and maggot ridden that they no longer have any powers of reasoning or ability to problem solve. However, it's been found that some zombies do retain some higher brain functioning. They usually become the leader that the other zombies follow. You go up the stairs that lead to the first floor and try the door, it's locked. The door is metal and can't be broken open. You search the cellar to find a way to secure the broken cellar door but nothing is usable. The shrieking zombies are at the cellar door and soon a horde is upon you. One of the zombies brains functioned enough to figure out that if they followed the tracks in the snow it would lead to human flesh..... Both you and the dog fight valiantly before meeting your doom.
