Upon reaching the bridge you discover it's not possible to cross. It's been demolished. Since zombies can't swim the scientist probably took this extra step to stop them. The dog has already jumped out and has crossed the frozen river. You follow behind the dog, confident the ice will hold. Once across the river you climb a steep rock cropping and after walking a short distance the cabin is visible. You walk to the reinforced door and punch in the code left in the journal to unlock it, all the time hoping the code had not been changed. Success, the door to the cabin is open.
